Renting safely
MO-VO connects you with owners. You meet, inspect, agree and pay between yourselves, so these habits matter.
How to rent safely
1 min read
- Choose verified owners. Look for the phone and ID badges, the Quality Score and real reviews.
- Meet in a public place in daylight, or at the owner's office. Bring someone if you can.
- See the car and its papers before any money moves.
- Agree the terms in writing, in chat or on WhatsApp.
- Pay the owner directly, in a way that leaves a record, and only after you have seen the car.
- Photograph the car at pick-up and at return.
MO-VO never takes a rental payment. Nobody from MO-VO will ask you to pay for a rental, a "booking fee" or a "release code".
Red flags
1 min read
Stop and think again if the other person:
- wants payment before you have seen the car, "to hold it" or "to book the date";
- offers a price far below every similar car;
- will not meet, will not show papers, or keeps changing the meeting place;
- pushes you to decide right now;
- asks you to move to another app at once, or to pay someone whose name is not theirs;
- says they are from MO-VO and asks for money, a code or your password;
- has photos that look like an advert, or that appear on other listings.
One red flag is a reason to ask questions. Two is a reason to leave. Report the listing so the next person is spared.
Renter's checklist

At pick-up
- The car matches the listing: make, model, year, colour, plate.
- Vehicle licence, insurance and roadworthiness are valid.
- Photos or a video of all sides, the interior, the dashboard and any marks.
- Fuel level and mileage noted.
- Tyres, spare, jack, lights, wipers, air conditioning and seat belts work.
- Price, deposit, dates, mileage limit and return place agreed in writing.
- The owner's phone number, and one more contact.
At return
- Inspect the car together.
- Compare with your pick-up photos.
- Fuel and mileage as agreed.
- Deposit returned, or the reason written down.
- Leave a review. It helps the next renter and the owner.
Scam prevention

The advance fee. A great car at a low price, and a request to pay a deposit "to secure it" before you meet. After you pay, the person disappears. Never pay before you have seen the car and met the owner.
The fake agent. Someone says they act for the owner, or for MO-VO, and asks for a fee or a code. MO-VO has no agents who collect money, and never asks for your password or a code sent to your phone.
The borrowed car. The person renting it out does not own it. Ask for the papers, and check the name against their ID.
The overpayment. A "renter" sends too much and asks for the difference back. The first payment is then reversed. Wait until money has truly arrived, and refund only to where it came from.
The switch. The car at pick-up is not the one in the listing. You owe nothing. Leave, and report the listing.
If you have paid a scammer, tell your bank at once, report to the police, and report the account to us.
Dispute resolution guide
1 min read
MO-VO does not hold the money or the contract, so we cannot decide who is right. We can act on listings and accounts, and these steps settle most disputes.
- State the problem in writing. What was agreed, what happened, what you want. Keep it short and calm.
- Share the evidence. The written agreement, photos from pick-up and return, proof of payment.
- Offer a fair fix. Part of the deposit, a repair quote from a workshop you both accept, an extra day.
- Give it a day. Many disputes cool down overnight.
- Bring in a third person you both trust, if you still disagree.
- Report to MO-VO. We look at the account and the listing, and may warn, suspend or remove them.
- Use the law for serious matters. The police for theft and fraud; a lawyer or the small claims court for money you cannot recover.
Leaving an honest review is part of resolving a dispute. It is how other people learn from yours.
Common issues
Does MO-VO take payment for rentals?
No. You agree the price with the owner and pay the owner directly. MO-VO only charges owners for optional advertising on the site.
The owner is not replying. What should I do?
Try another way to reach them if the listing offers one: chat, a call or WhatsApp. Owners with a "Responds in" line usually answer within that time. If a day passes, contact another owner; there is no penalty for asking several.
The car is not like the photos. What now?
Do not pay. Tell the owner what is different. If they cannot explain, leave, and report the listing from its page so our team can look at it.
The owner has not returned my deposit.
Send the owner your written agreement and your return photos, and ask for the date the deposit will be paid. If that fails, follow the dispute resolution steps above and report the owner to us.
Is the car insured?
MO-VO does not insure rentals. Ask the owner to show the car's insurance and what it covers when someone else drives, before you agree.
What do the verified badges mean?
"Phone verified" means the number was confirmed with a code. "ID verified" means our team checked a government ID. A badge tells you who you are dealing with; it is not a promise about the car, so still inspect it.
